I cannot express how thrilled and honored I am to have my photographs of Inlet Dance Theatre featured on their website. This past June, we photographed for 3 days in multiple locations and captured some stunning images together. I’ll be continually releasing photographs in different ways. An exhibition of these photographs will be a part of our collaborative release with the Nehemiah Mission Nov 12-13 at the Breen Arts Center in Cleveland, Ohio. More details on this soon!
As for now, go have a look at Inlet’s new fabulous updated website, and get excited about the performances and events coming up! This weekend: Ingenuity Festival w/ Dancing Wheels – “Bridging”

What a pleasure it was being a part of this incredible wedding! Surrounded by mountains, farmland and family, the entire day flowed so effortlessly. The bride and groom are both from Baltimore and decided to host their wedding at the family farm. Old photographs lined the walls inside the house of other weddings and festivities held their years before. It felt like home immediately, and how could I complain when I fresh glass of mint sweet tea was handed to me when I walked in the door? Enjoy viewing a few favorites of mine.

My dear, dearest friend and confidant. We share a home and lives together.
These photographs were taken when I visited her home in Cookeville, TN this August.

Back in August, I traveled into Tennessee to find some solitude in seeing old friends and traveling alone. Some of the most sacred times spent were up top an old boxcar in northeast Nashville with childhood friend, Grace. Her community home welcomed me with open arms, and folded me into their every day. It’s a unique and fresh way of living, and they inspired me to continue on as I moved back to Cleveland a few weeks later — into a new home, a new year.
These are a few photographs of our early mornings together. Dawn is the most cleansing time of day, a whole season in itself.

life giving art comes from the truest moments of intimacy that cannot be planned or explained. artists are birth givers. our intimacy with the Silence and learnt love to hear that Silence speak, we strengthen our sensitivity and perspective of world, of other. we fret, we strive, we try to create the intimacy that is needed to create life-giving work. what a paradox it is to cease striving and drift ones hand across the still water, waiting for it to speak of it’s depth. fall in, my dear, take a dip. slower, slower, slow the flexing of your muscles. slower, even still, the kicking of your legs, the biting of your teeth — this is not how truth and you meet. the deep waters lie within you, love. it is possible to breathe in the water and not swell the lung. the water will transform you, the impossible done. you will become a new tongue, flit, flutter from bird to fish, all things to all men.

It was quite an adventure filled morning for Rudy! He has recently been overwhelmed by the construction going on in his backyard. The construction men working gladly let him climb on the large CAT, and pulled out of Rudy that little boy excitement controlling a large machine.
His sister, Clara, sparkled when he cared for her.
Next, we ventured to get a drink in the hose and blow bubbles in the front yard.
He was so occupied with these things, the only time he would glance and look at me is if we stated,
“Rudy! Is that a butterfly on Lauren’s head?”
or, another favorite:
“Rudy, look into the magic circle!”
Yes. The magic circle works. He was fascinated. For those of you who don’t know, the magic circle is my lens : )
Too many favorites. Forgive the overwhelm! He brought a bit of magic back into my life.
Family Sessions Begin at $250.

It’s the shadow on the wall
The way that a woman walks with her child
In the hands that hold me now
The way that the colours splash ’round the neighborhood
It’s the smoky fog of the morning
The sound of a pencil creating a masterpiece
It’s the clouds that frame the sky
The look in your eye is your speaking voice to me
It’s everything I see, everything I do
You infiltrate the world
When I’m attentive close, and listening to You
Speaking Voice, Greylag
I was invited into the home of Emily Capece to photograph her children, Clara and Rudy. We had two sessions together — one with Clara, and one with both brother and sister together. These are a few favorites from our first session with darling Clara.
